Another very entertaining and enjoyable great story from Jake Bible with fantastic narration from Andrew B. Wehrlen.

I have OCD when it comes to my books. I listen to them in the order I get them. While on a recent road trip I started 3 different books that were just not holding my attention. This book was fourth on the list. I should have known better and just gone straight to a Bible book.

Even though the story starts out with plenty of action it slows down for a bit after the initial action is over. It slowly builds back up but there was enough going on to keep my attention and interest until the story really took off again. Once the story really picks up again it pulls you in and keeps your complete attention until the end. As usual it’s full of suspense and intrigue, large doses of sarcastic humor and plenty of action. It is a Jake Bible book so be prepared for plenty of violence, gore, death and some crude language.

This story is set in the same world as the Salvage Merc One and Drop Team Zero series. The Skrang and the fleet have reached a truce. The war is over. A squadron of Marines unhappy with the way their fortunes have fared after the end of the war decided to take matters into their own hands. When it all goes wrong they end up on a “deserted” planet. What they discover on the planet is nothing they were prepared for. Not only will they face a new enemy but an old one as well.

Great cast of interesting and likable characters. I would really like to know more about the Marines found on the planet.

Even though this story ended in a great way, it leaves open the possibility of future installments with this group of Marines. Those on the ship and those found on the planet. Which I would be interested in reading about.

Andrew B. Wehrlen once again does a fantastic job with the narration. He has one of those voices that just draws you right into a story. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Great character voices. Even though there isn’t a lot of difference between the character voices you can always tell who is speaking through the tone and delivery. He was able to bring the characters to life. Perfect delivery of the humor. Very enjoyable.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.
