This is overall a very good book, with characters that actually feel real. No, silly 1 dimensional character trops that are just created to be background in the story. The system makes a unique kind of sense and you come to understand the difference in people’s stats/ classes. The Mc feels relatable so long as you remember that he is freshly 18 with minimal experience with the crappy side of the world. I highly recommend the series.

2 things I wish to address about other reviews I read before.

1st – the narrator is not that bad, in fact I feel he does a good job throughout the book. I do listen to all books though at roughly 1.8-2x speed so do keep that in mind.

2nd – the review saying the bit about some “NRT” subplot did not fit with what I found during my read. This was just crappy shi**y kids doing dumb 18 year old logic and drama. It was a tiny piece of the interaction and did NOT feel out of place for emotionally immature actions of kids trying to get what they wanted.

* overall great book, slow but steady progress that will happily lead to me reading the series.
