The Correspondent is my best book so far of 2026, and my first 5-star read in a very long time. Reading it felt like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a foggy day. It was both heart-wrenching and heartwarming.

Through Sybil’s letters, the story builds a rich tapestry of a life well lived, even as she carries the weight of tremendous grief. Her connections through letter writing made her world feel full, textured, and deeply human.

The audiobook was especially wonderful. Each narrator completely embodied the character they voiced. I could picture Mr. Lübeck, and I could hear Harry growing up through the changes in his voice and presence. That performance added so much depth and intimacy to the story.

I honestly feel like I could have listened to many more years of Sybil’s life as told through her letters. I was genuinely sad when it ended.
