I suppose I didn’t know what I was getting myself into with this audio book. I’m a litrpg outsider and I must say I couldn’t really get into it and stopped after awhile. I guess I just don’t like human characters that don’t act human. This Carl guy witnesses most of the world killed in an instant and is then immediately thrust into a real world rpg death game, but he doesn’t have the common decency to have an existential crisis or mental break down. he never even tries to negotiate out of it or say “I dont want to do this “. Carl is perhaps the dumbest main character I’ve ever read.
I’ve seen comments about the “world building” but its basically just a randomly generated video game brought into book form. there is no world building besides the briefest “hey magic exists because its just super alien technology, just go with it”.
