I made it through book 1 and after a short time with book 2 I gave up. I saw where the story was going and thought it would be a fun read but it was inconsistent with what the effects of an HEMP could do or not do. I mean, really, cars and truck don’t just catch on fire or go out of control when the engine stops running. Also where did everyone go? Those who did not die in horrible accidents should have been out and about, but we only get to know of 6 that are still alive, well for a while. Also did the author get paid endorsements for all the products that he mentions by make and model? If you are at home and have a generator, hot water and propane, why would you use your camp stove or paper plates? He mentions that GPS devices were taken and would not work due to the EMP, but tells the kids to bring their cell phones just in case there is cell service where they are going. Sorry, I could only take so much. Perhaps someone who does not know much about EMP effects may like it.
