I’ve read Akarts books lots of times. EMP, pandemic, terrorism that basically is survival tactics for catastrophes. And his books lean conservative telling it like it is and he is correct on the premise. I’m one of the more informed listeners and definitely realize what would happen if an event such as this would happen especially in this day and age. His books usually invoke a farming family or a well prepared family and how violent people will get to have what you have. And they will. I have no doubt. But I’m a bit tired of how the well prepared family is so loving yet do the stupidest shit. The moms or sisters and small kids in his books can be a pain in the ass. The mom, Emma, sends her husband and one son into NYC after this EMP caused by the sun to find the grandpa Sam and their precious daughter who is visiting the city? New York City? I get it. Want to get them. What are the odds of finding them….ZERO in real life. And then Emma realizes that she’s treated her one son Matthew ( the one that went with dad) worse than the other son Luke who is staying with her on the farm whilst her husband and son travel 150 miles into a city of what? 15 million to find 2 people? And after so many years , it takes Luke (aka the nice son) to tell her that? And now she feels guilty? And yes, I am a woman and mother. Little bit too much BS in a real life family. And I’m close with my family but we aren’t stupid. The book was written in 2022. I used love cities and have been to NYC several times. I wouldn’t have gone near NYC. I usually listen to his entire series before but am skipping the rest of the series.
