Midnight Navarri and Echo Navarri are the twin, teenage daughters of world-famous archaeologists. While on a dig with their parents, Midnight somehow disappears. Still devastated a year after Midnight’s disappearance, Echo is sent to live in Maine with her eccentric Aunt Luna. There Echo meets and falls for Thorn Vega, a mysterious boy who is more than he seems. That’s when this book starts to remind me of the 1st Twilight movie.

“13 Ways To Midnight: The Midnight Saga” has a ton of super positive reviews on Amazon and Audible. I just don’t get it. I feel like this is a situation where the whole world is wrong and I’m right. Nothing happens for at least half of this book. Frankly, it’s boring. Also, we learn nothing about Thorn’s character to make a reader/listener understand why Echo is so taken with him. Other than the author says so, there is nothing in the story to justify Echo’s feelings for Thorn. I don’t mind a good romance novel, but I hate the ones where the author has her two characters meet and by the next paragraph they are drawn to each other like magnets for no reason. There is a good foundation and plot to build a story on, but I’m obviously in the minority because I don’t think the author, Rue Volley built anything on that foundation. “13 Ways To Midnight: The Midnight Saga” may be the start of a new series, but it has a lot of work to do to win me back for book two.
