This is my favorite book of the series by far. It really feels like Matt knows where he’s leading us while simultaneously ensuring the most chaotic route there possible. I’m not sure if it’s just desensitization on my end (probably the characters’) but it seems like a lot less of the more edgy/charged content serves a purpose now. It’s not just there to get a reaction out of the audience. I’m glad I stuck around to experience this.

As always, the pop culture references are a delight. The world building is one-of-kind. They have such depth. Just like the rest of the series, the Parade of
Horribles caused me to audibly gasp, laugh until I nearly cried, and also stop to reflect on the deeper message about ourselves and society at large. Dungeon Crawler Carl is already a remarkable series.

Special shoutout to Jeff Hays for doing such an outstanding job narrating this. I really don’t know how he does it.
