dungeon crawler Carl is an absolute masterpiece in RPG escue literature combining what we love about dungeons and dragons and sci-fi with story about two characters we come to deeply love and respect characters that have a deep friendship that grows but manages to be hilarious at the same time as finding moments of depth and sincerity in between. not an easy thing to do in any story or entertainment, mutlus a book written in this genre where I imagine it’s quite easy to lose that balance to silliness and cheap jokes or alternatively become too technical in stats and numbers and mechanics. Matt Dinniman is a master at his craft it is also quite lovely to see an author in such great connection to his community and that is quite obviously some of the reason of the success of these series.
