About halfway through The Way of Dan series by The Way of Dan and I’m enjoying the story, but not nearly as much as Franklin Horton’s Mad Mick series. The plot is solid enough to keep me reading, but the characters are weaker overall—especially Dan, who comes off as immature and hard to take seriously. The constant focus on drugs and loud music also feels out of place for a post-apocalyptic setting and gets distracting. Compared to Mad Mick, it just doesn’t have the same strong character work, even though the core idea is still interesting. I do like that it’s not one constant battle after another and there’s actually some post-apocalyptic life involved
