I really like the premise and the storyline but several times I wanted to ditch reading the rest.
One repeating action or rather inaction makes me want to yell and shake some sense into the MC. He has had 5 violent encounters with armed people who all had clear ill intent and still the MC keeps.. well not even letting his guard down because it’s never up.
He is supposed to be a self reliant and not easily trusting man with military experience.
Who in the world would then, after 3 times being surprised by armed looters, leave your supplies unguarded for anyone to stumble on or even worse leave your gun.
MC’s inner monolog is constantly droning on about danger could be around every corner. Why in all that is holy is he then constantly running along happy go lucky like and being surprised by men who are not sneaky at all.
