I left the book for a couple weeks and when I returned I couldn’t believe how annoying all of the little sayings and idioms and similes and whatnot that the non MC characters say non-stop in every sentence. I don’t remember if it’s been like that the whole series and it only stood out when I read a couple series that I enjoy more and returned or if it’s gradually ramped up or what, but I didn’t like it. Some of them were perfectly fine and if they were used a couple times per book instead of multiple times per chapter then it’d be great, instead they’re off-putting and pull me out of the story. It made me like all those characters less, which is rough because the only one left is the MC and… I mean, I guess he’s fine.
As far as the story goes, the first half was pretty cool, but I feel like there was potential for more or the execution of the cool idea wasn’t great. Idk…
If I hadn’t already bought the next two books during a sale then I might’ve dropped the series at this point, but I guess I have to at least see where it goes until I can’t stand it any longer. Haha what a glowing testimonial, it’s not THAT bad…
