Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No, not at all. The storyline and plot were wonderful. There were unexpected twists and turns and this definitely wasn’t your cookie-cutter romanance, HOWEVER, I know third graders who could write better than this lady. The dialogue is forced and robotic. There is too much telling and not enough showing. She weaves a story then doesn’t trust the reader to make the connections she has provided, and ruins it all by spelling every little thing out. I don’t understand…she’s got the hard part down pat. The storyline, the characters…they’re all interesting and she makes me WANT to listen to the next in the series, but I just don’t know if I can stomach any more of the “and then this happened” style that she is so fond of. I hope she takes some workshops and improves upon this bc she has the potential to be great.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Laurent, even though some of the french he spoke was incorrect. 🙂 I just liked his personality, simple enough.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the surprise visitor (no spoilers) shows up on the mountain bc I wasn’t expecting it and the author impressed me.
Was Teton Sunrise worth the listening time?
I never gave it my full attention due to the previously stated reasons, so yes. I was still able to get the gist (the good part) of the story while only half paying attention to the awful sentence structure and forced storytelling. I listened while baking and doung laundry.
Any additional comments?
Narrator was great. He made the best of junky material. Would absolutely listen to him again. He was able to do accents (not perfect, but really good) and different voices, including female voices. Also, his normal speaking voice is enjoyable to listen to.
