Matt Dinniman is an instant buy for me. Jeff Hayes being involved only serves to fill out the entire experience for me. I LOVE the anti-establishment energy of Bounce House.
The writing is hilarious, even when the subject matter is dark and dystopian. The wit is the sugar that makes the medicine go down, and the medicine is a glimpse at a capitalist hellscape. Art will always answer to the current events of whatever time, and Operation Bounce House is no exception.
Also, I always accidentally fall in love with Dinniman’s AI systems. Even in DCC, the weird AI had me cracking up. Roger was absolutely my favorite character in OBH. He was one of the more human personalities. I’m going to refrain from spoilers just in case you’re reading these to figure out if you should buy the book. You should!!! This book has the usual blend of chaos and humor that make Dinniman’s works memorable. There is a bit of darkness, made darker by the real-world relevancy, but you will have a good time on the journey!!
