The audiobook was recommended to me by my sister-n-law.
I like survival, romance books and this one is at the top of my list. This book is similar to The Blue Lagoon but way better.
The plot features a flight attendant that’s 10 years older than an extremely attractive, popular rapper.
The plane malfunctions, leaving Ariana and Vicente stranded on a deserted island for many months.
I’m a fan of enemies-to-lovers romance and this story is a prime example of it. Ari and Vic couldn’t stand each other at the start of the story. I liked how they grew from not being able to stand each other to having no choice but to lean on each other. Dislike turned to like and then grew into way more.
This story had a great balance of suspense and romance. When the romance blossomed, it formed into an explosion. I had to fan myself multiple times.
I like books with heavy dialogue. The dialogue in this story was realistic and entertaining.
The only thing I would have preferred was if there weren’t a much derogatory terminology used, even though I know it’s realistic. I’ve read plenty of books where the characters talk slang, but they don’t use derogatory terminology.
I also would have preferred if Vicente had admitted to loving his fiancĂ© vs just stating that he was marrying her just for the hell of it. From the time that he crashed in the island, he didn’t seem in the least bit worried about his fiancĂ©. Within a matter of days, he was really to get with Ariana. His mentality didn’t make him like a way at the beginning
However, Vicente did have a tremendous amount of character, which I can appreciate. Character growth is one of my favorite concepts in a story.
Their survival and struggles they went through on the island was suspenseful and had me in the edge of my seat. I also enjoyed the aftermath.
I listened to the audiobook version and both narrators were great.
The Last Man on Earth is in my top 5 favorite audiobooks this year and definitely one of my fav survival, romance books.
