I have enjoyed listening to Travis Baldree for several years now and this book is no exception. I had to get used to how fast he speaks after just finishing the last DCC audiobook.
This standalone novel without connection to DCC works. It had a rather slow start but I stuck with it. The concept of the story seems so grotesque at first but then if you look at our world today, it sadly isn’t. This audiobook accompanied me through some insomnia-riddled nights, and I probably dozed through some bits, so I will definitely relisten to it.
The plot twist at the end caught me by surprise but I almost felt like it could have had more implications. The denouement did feel a little rushed, as others have pointed out. Overall I still enjoyed this audiobook a lot.
