I have always enjoyed supernatural stories, and this book certainly met my expectations. It features an elder vampire and a vampire slayer, with Jade as the lone slayer in Magiford. The portrayal of a character with social anxiety is refreshing, and Jade’s inner thoughts often made me laugh. Considine, also known as Conner, comes across as a real jerk like a bored old man but he steps in to help Jade during the day, and they engage in a cat-and-mouse dynamic at night. I am interested in reading more from this author.
The audiobook was excellent, with the narrators doing a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life.
