I am a Christian, but I could not even get through this. I made it to chapter 8 realized that I have like over 20 hours left! Haven’t even made it to the actual plot (I don’t think). It was the amount of details for me. It was way too wordy and overkill in explanations of biblical and historical perspectives. It did not feel like a story or a book at all; it felt like an extension of the author’s own views and interpretations of the Bible.
The narrator tried his best (I guess?), but man, he was definitely part of the problem. He felt like he kept going on and on, and it felt more like a university lecture than a novel.
I would skip this and just stick with Frank Peretti (I love the novel “This Present Darkness”.
