I just wasted 8 1/2 hours of my life listening to an entitled, self-absorbed woman share her life. There are so many other people who have navigated life’s trials and could have been an encouragement, especially in these times. I work with real-life people who have struggled and are surviving situations far worse than this, who could have provided more hope. I tried to have compassion for her, but this woman is a racist bigot who sits in her own nastiness, and if she makes any progress, it is not by her own doing. If this is what book club readers are praising, no wonder so many of their children are cutting off their parents.
