Who the heck is “The Critical Drinker” and why was he allowed to mar an otherwise great narration?

Bottom line up front: like the title says, the critical drinker takes a giant shit on an otherwise perfect performance by Jeff Hays.

I’m a fan of the Dungeon Crawler Books and have read all of them. This is my first time listening to them and, up until now, I’ve enjoyed every second. Jeff Hays is a great voice actor and does an amazing job with these books. Solid 10 out of 10 for his performance. When The Train Conductor (the character voiced by whoever this drinker dude is) starting speaking, it was jarring. First of all, his lines must have been recorded at a different location because the sound quality is noticeably worse. But even the recording had been perfect, it would still be like listening to a guy with no personality talk in basically a monotone voice with a slur. He’s terrible. Just looked him up and apparently he’s some YouTuber that used to be popular. Whatever else he does, voice acting is not one of his talents and listening to his lines is a chore. Big mistake to put him in there.
