The finely written letters of all the “Correspondents” told a story in a subtle and inventive way. The intertwining aspects of the heroine’s life and those of others who wrote to her evolved throughout the book. I thought the narration was excellent and brought the variety of characters alive. They were vivid and believable.
At the same time, I had mixed responses to some of the redemption stories. Sometimes they were believable. At other times I found them a bit saccharine. The background music at the end of the recording contributed to that feeling.
