This wasn’t a really good book that kept me on the edge of my seat. I wish the ending had been different though.
I hated the ending!!

Roger Huder does a wonderful job giving you insight into the EMS environment. Roger takes you on a ride along with him from the beginning as they created the first EMS responder teams, continuing his journey through the years and into his retirement. My husband is a Paramedic. I often see him struggling with something..
OMG! OMG! I loved it…the narrator was great! So suspenseful…just when I thought it was predictable I was wrong…lol I found myself fussing at the character…lol Now I can’t decide which is best between this one and “Forty Acres”…When’s the next one?

Incredibly dull and hard to follow. Unfortunately i couldn’t get past chapter 3 and decided to archive it. Something I’ve never done before.
As a dad the beginning killed me . But in a good way. it’s so deep and draining , it really pulls you in. The story just gets better and better from there. Great book, I’m really a fan of this guy.
I’m currently in school for FF1 and all i wanted was to understand the life of a FF but you explained so much more. hands down best book i’ve ever read
This one had the potential to be a great book. Somewhere during the third chapter the profanity started. While it may reflect what was firehouse language in his day, I don’t need have it blasting in my ears today, Audible needs to have a rating system similar to movies that users can evaluate in advance..
I’m afraid the writing and style is not good. The characters lack depth and while the storyline has pace, it only hovers over detail making it a cliff notes kind of novel. When compared to counterparts written by Tom Wood, Gregg Hurwitz or Vince Flynn, these Mitch Herron books fall far behind.
I am a young paramedic in Ohio, this book has helped process so many of those ghosts that follow you. I will 100% recommend every student I have read this book.
