Have enjoyed the characters and story. I do wish the excellent narrator had given Picket a bit more spunk and personality. He seems shaky voiced and hesitant. A little here and there would make sense, but having him sound that way throughout makes him less appealing.
Fabulous narration brings this fabulous story to life. Plot and major feels round out this audio treat. Great characters.
When I first picked up the Curl Up and Dye series the first thing I though was “Joel Leslie has to narrate these” he brings the full cast to life. I strongly recommend reading the Curl Up and Dye books before the Blissville ones. While they can be read/listened to as stand alones there’s a..
Thank goodness this is a quick read because the narration is terrible and the content only so-so. Only an abiding interest in the life of Harvey Milk could have enticed me to stick it out for the few prices of info not gleaned from reading The Mayor of Castro Street. I had expected more from..
The narrator was PERFECT, but the book itself was alright I guess. The story had no real heartwrenching conflict which I found very disappointing. I thought there would be actual physical battles but there wasn’t and that’s okay because this is a romance novel, however the way they fell in love was very boring. Himes..
I enjoyed this lengthy listen, and would definitely like to know more about judge Brewer and “his” Marshal.I like the character building, the coming out story, and the suspense. The court scenes were well done (I’m not usually into court dialogues, but this was well written, I thought). However, there were times where the main characters..
like the review title says, this book brings hope. I’ve always been annoyed how LGBT lit is all erotica, doomed romance, or some sort of Sundance style movie about loss. This one has equal amounts of adventure and romance. it’s about time a gay character brings in some adventure!
This book felt a little lopsided to me. The overall performance by the narrator was great; however, once the resolution happened between the protagonists the story fell off. I enjoyed for first half of the story with the miscommunication between the two love interests but once that was resolved the ending of the book felt..
This was the epic ending to a wonderfully gentle and sweet three book series. I have to say that the second book was a bit slow going for me and I felt not many things happened there but this one really wrapped their story up in a great way. As always, Joel Leslie’s narration was..
