Mortal Skin is an excellent start to a fantasy fae-based Folk Trilogy from Lily Mayne. I read this first as an ebook but the audio was a great experience for a reread!

Absolutely devastatingly beautiful. By the end I couldn’t stop the tears, but it was totally worth it. I can’t wait for book 2!!

There are occasionally stories that you just don’t want to see the end come and when it does, you’re very sad. This is one of those. I could just listen to it forever and ever and ever I really enjoyed this greatly.

Reads like a streetwise gay kid and mafia boss as imagined by a cis-het scriptwriter for the hallmark channel. It would be a lot easier to suspend my disbelief if it were in a quasi-historic setting, but contemporary europe/us? Nah, bruh.
