Quirky and good fun. Not overly sophisticated, but very enjoyable. The plot wasn’t predictable, although I assumed Jonathan would succeed! Good to read a simple, enjoyable book with quirky original characters!
This was just… so so good. Everything about it from the sorry to Joel’s narration, was just too sweet and sexy… what a perfect ending note.
I had just come off of Boyfriend Material, and Red White & Royal Blue, yearning for another similar story, but not a direct version with Playing the Palace. I initially didn’t think much of HTBAB, but something inside me (and the bazillion reviews here and on GoodReads, had me convinced to give it a go…
First, I love Jole Leslie as a narrator. He’s one of my favorites. Second, althought I usually can’t stand stories involving time travel, I kept going with this one because I thought, for what this was, it was well written, to a point. I especially loved the love sotry between Gray and Shadow because I..
Cat Sebastian’s story was warm, welcoming, and a delight all around – who doesn’t want to solve a mystery while accidentally falling in love in a quaint English village? I also really enjoyed Joel Leslie’s narration of the book.
I was glad Joel Leslie narrated this book as well since I enjoyed his narration of Hither Page so much, and he was equally great in this one. Cat Sebastian wove a story together so well of people realizing the person they love loves them back just as much while also solving a mystery, and..
there is no way that I can finish this book. I give the story two stars simply because I have no idea if it was any good, I couldn’t get past the narrator pausing mid-sentence multiple times the way that Will Shatner does. It became almost painful to endure.
the narrator needs to read the book before he voices it. The emphasis on odd words and the wrong phrases is super jarring. I like his differentiation of characters, and he is a good fit but he needs to really internalize what is happening then act it out.
I wish the rest of the series were on here. I enjoyed the way the story was read and I’m eager to continue.
