Top tier storytelling and world building. I am so excited for book 2 🫶🏼 At first I was a little unsure but soon the characters and story sunk their claws in and didn’t let go the entire ride.

story is one of my faves, but I found the narration kind of weird. Cutoff words and breathlessness that didn’t seem appropriate to the story. so, 3 stars narration, 5 star story
Following the improbable life of August was richly entertaining. The characters were unusual but painted in such detail that one could imagine their existence. Although Mr. Froomkin made them larger than life, I wished he could have dialed it back a bit.

Great story + great narration. Humor, romance, and a serious plot. Awesome, vivid characters brought to equally vivid life by Joel’s skill. This was the first Jordan L Hawk book I listened to and it was great. There is even more to love if you are familiar with his Whyborne and Griffen series.
