Review from Laurent and the Beast →
I read this book first and I thought it was hilarious! I found it still funny read. Narrator did a wonderful job. If you want laugh out loud, this is your book!
High fantasy based on centuries old folklore (which is new to me) placed within the context of the social mores and sensibilities of the 18th century while addressing an audience of the 21st…To the author and performer……Well done..Gwen
One of my favorite shorter audiobooks ( 6 1/2 hrs). I listen to or read the book every few months. Love, love, love.
The overall story was entertaining the characters were interesting. Some of the relationships and the story seemed to have formed very quickly. And some of that just didn’t seem realistic. The audio performance was good for some of the characters but not all.
I’ve been waiting for this audio for ages! I’m a huge fan of Josh and Gabe and the trials and tribulations they go through in order to get the happy ending!! Joel Leslie is simply perfection!
I couldn’t finish this book. I really wanted to, because I’m interested in the story, but I just couldn’t. The narrators was so hard to understand, I believe there’s two of them, since there’s two point of view in the story. The way they tried to do the voice/accent of the different characters was so..
I’d like to know what happens to the characters but I’m honestly not sure I will be able to finish it. It was very slow to start, the narrator is absolutely horrible and the sex scenes are beyond dragged out. If you want to listen to a half hour or more of these nasal voices..
Well written and enjoyable story. River is a great NB character. I don’t always love Joel Leslie but he does a great job with the narration.
