The joy of the story was diminished by the narration. The many voices was a sad performance.
this is a Christian dogma based book. I really wanted to read something on financial literacy but unfortunately was lead here. hard pass.

I was really looking forward to a full cast narration of this book. Buyer beware- Jem has a British accent. Anne sounds like a pre-teen. I found it to be so distracting that I it’s on my DNF shelf. I wish I could get my credit returned.

I loved the care with which Ruth Randall told Mary’s story. Lamon’s and Herndon’s book were so awful to her. I have listened to this book 3 times. It’s perfect.

The context of the book is interesting at times, and boring in frequent places. What makes it excruciating to listen to though is the narrator. Her voice is grating and unpleasant when she is speaking naturally; when she breaks into her fake simpering Savannah southern Belle voice whenever she’s voicing Mary Lincoln, it’s absolutely nauseating…
I loved the clarity of her written voice and how undaunted she was in pursuing her career dreams, the way she handled her male pursuers and her inner dialogues. How smart she was and how gifted artistically.
