First off, I love dysotopian/Apocalyptic books. I’ve listened to so many I’ve lost count but this book seems to focus more on how covid messed the world up. I’m still left wondering WHY. I wanted to be optimistic and try giving the second book a try after the language geared towards womenwas so derogatory but..
I have studied Bible prophecy for many years and for the most part this followed the predictions of the Bible if anyone has never read Bible prophecy I hope this will inspire you to do so highly recommend this book
The theme of the book made me review what’s happening in the world and how to prepare for the future. I have to think/pray through the idea that’s it’s acceptable to kill people who are against me whether they are believers or not. Overall, the book was thought provoking and we’ll done.
This writer started out with so much potential, but that didn’t last. the character is supposed to be a humble mechanic country kid but somehow has the skills of a seasoned SEAL? Every woman in the story is instantly in love with him? Every bad guy in the world is a rapist? Way too much..
I mean this is going to seem silly and I’m about 10 minutes into the second book right now, but how the hell is all this crap being talked about prepping and yet not one of these people has antibiotics? totally and absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic. there’s no way that would not be the first..
So without spoiling anything- the beginning Was pretty good, lots of alt apocalyptic stuff and and undercurrent starts to become apparent. But once you find out what that is you’re like, you’re kidding right? Super weird and extremely weak premise. I felt very let down actually.
Love Kevin Pierce as narrator but not even he could save this one. Book is poorly written. Character development is lacking. Story takes to large a leap in time with little back story to fill in the gaps. Story/writing is very G/PG rated. Nothing wrong with that but I prefer the R rated version with..
I would not let this author around any 12 year old girl. It’s super creepy the way he describes the child in this book.
