I am so ready to xrack open a can of Earth’s Preferred and listen to another hundred hours or so! Great characters and a rolicking plot make this a great long-term listen!
You can tell this was the original work. I encountered them in universe time order, not writing order, and it’s good, but not as good. Pivotal to the overall story, though.
I love all the character development, and, while I didn’t love some of the character arcs, they were true to each person. Even though I have read all of the proceeding books, I did feel like I needed a family tree/flow chart at some points during the series. I love all the black ocean books!!
As of writing this I’m on Mission 8 of 12 and this thing is such a painful slog I don’t think I can finish it. I was apprehensive even going into this one. Despite really loving Galaxy Outlaws and and mostly liking Mercy for Hire, I just did not give enough crap about Cedric, so..

A bit harder edge than black ocean+, but very well written and good story. Great narration, too. Book 5 was tough to read in the best way – I didn’t like the antagonist, lol. He was so well written that I hated having to hear from his perspective because I disliked him so much.
I’ve read all of them now I think. Great series of books. love the fact that you can get them in a box set so you can get many hours of listening at once!
The 12 book BelgariadMallorean series by David Eddings had remained my number 1 favorite for decades. Outstanding voice acting, and amazing characters. After 83 hours I still want more of the black ocean.
It was a very interesting premise, but quickly explored some morbid and strange concepts. First book was the best IMO.
the theoretical speculation of were we came from and where we go after life is pretty awsome. the battles were awsome as well, big galaxy standing fight and cloak and dagger was on piont.
