I had high hopes for this story. I liked that it was really long because I drive long haul and like to listen as I drive. It was slow starting off but I liked it until the storyline started inserting statutory rape and the main character’s love interest when full on transgender. I’m not sure..
the narration is good, and the story is interesting. what turned me off though is that, in the 2 books that I read, not a SINGLE female character had any motivation beyond “getting that man”. am the women were either window dressing for the male leads without any real personality, or their entire personally revolved..

I liked the story overall. there’s several story arcs throughout, one of which gets a little tedious, but ends the arc not too long after hitting that point.
I’ve listened to this series twice and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it both times. When I’m done with one Black Ocean series, I go look for another. Never felt like i HAD to keep listening. Would often put it down and not come back for weeks. But….it is 91 hours of decent entertainment that well written. Story is a 6.5/10, characters get a 7.5/10. Great to have on when you working or traveling. Ultimately, I enjoyed all 91 hours and bought 2..

Characters were hard to like, then they became harder to like and I couldn’t finish the first book. I really tried but it was very formulaic.
If you decide to indulge upon this listen, you are entering a fantastic New World with twists and turns that keep you always in suspense. I can’t even begin to summarize the experience you will enjoy other than it will be amazing. Bon voyage!!!
