Instead of concentrating on the things that went wrong with the army, the story sinks in a morass of meaningless minutiae while crucial actions can be bypassed almost completely. Sadly the author did not yet have the title in his mind while writing the book. The audio version is well read, though.
I been a fan of his work since his first book. His characters are as real as you and me. Every one of books comes up. I know I am in for a treat. Just like 12 your boy waiting for the next Star Wars movies but better. Let clarify that. I saw the original..
I just devoured these 4 books. Really liked the characters and their relatability. Very good narration as well. I want the movie!
I never felt for any of the characters, it was a very blah book, and I usually like both the author and narrator.
This will be one of the few books I have to abandon. it starts out quite interesting, with a mystery that spans millennia. But then too many inconstencies are stacking up. Why is no one taking any pictures of the artifact, for instance? Nobody thought to ask a language expert when seeing the markings and..
The concept for this story is interesting, but for me the writing left much to be desired. The dialogue is cliche and corny, and the characters are one-dimensional. There is very little world-building, more just basic scene setting. I couldn’t get into it. If you’re new to science fiction or looking for something very simple,..
The story is ok. I’m not sure if it’s the narrator or the writing but the performance gives a young adult fiction vibe. Calling it “sunken spaceship” is also a little weird. It was “sunken” for about 4 minutes.
I need to go back to the earlier books and see who was on the hit squad because the only one I can think of was part of a home guard. Well time for a tin foil hat and some red string..
this was definitely the best of the first three books in this series. the reader is superb and the story is intriguing and at the same time exciting. looking forward to listening to book four
