Did not expect the ending so that was nice. Took a while to get going but like characters and was fun.

I expected a dry and uninspiring account of someone who is essentially a historical footnote. To my surprise and delight, this book brought an obscure figure to life and shed fascinating light on an important era in American history.
author puts too much faith into a small bunch of sources, which have questionable authenticity and are very biases. because of that the work.is at times dull. though still a worthy read for all antiquity buffs

This has been my favorite relationship in this series. However I think the 2nd story had better pacing. It felt like once the initial challenge was through in this book the author was trying to fill space. There was also a random set of characters that fixed issues way too easily without much back story..
The actual dark humor medical expression is “all bleeding stops eventually.” I bought this hoping for the tales of numerous and intense stories of what goes into becoming a trauma surgeon and what it is like to practice. Books of this genre I have listened to so far have been lively with both light hearted..
A less compelling and convincing version of the first book. I’m hoping we get a different story for the others. Willing to try.
