The author said his book is a way to merge science with creationism. Not so. He gave the ever changing science the role of the highest authority and downgraded creationism as having no authority, therefore discounting all the science-backed facts that prove the Bible and the opinions of his science colleagues who disagree with him.

I really enjoyed this book. The depth and breadth of information not only directly about fungi, but also about how humans are affected mentally, physically, psychologically, spiritually, and financially by fungi is phenomenal. Definitely has me wanting to join a local mycological group and start enjoying the benefits of a life enhanced by mycology.
This book is really about one coach’s approach (Bob Larsen) to training for world class marathon performance. The plot line follows several runners under Bob’s tutelage. It’s an interesting insight into the running sport from one perspective, by an author who has a strong admiration of coach Larsen.

I do want to say I enjoyed this book. I just find it a bit grating that the author looks down his nose at anyone enjoying true crime or producing true crime content… except himself of course. He seems to think he’s better than everyone else that consumes or produces true crime content because he’s..
Love this author

My only, and minor complaint is the Hispanic sounding reader. He’s not the most believable and realistic sounding. I’m a born and raised Texan, so unnatural sounding readers irks me some, but not enough to not listen. As always Mr. Wortham is a phenomenal writer, and his story lines are captivating.
Given the giant arc of time, psychology, history and sheer volume of killers covered, this is an amazing listen. One of those rare quantity and quality listens for anyone trying to learn more about the past phenomenon of serial murder. Also a useful jump-start for anyone trying to learn more about lesser known murderers.

Kai Bird paints a rosy picture and tells a nice story about Bob Ames, his work in the CIA and the Palestinian conflict. There isn’t much depth to his story. I selected this book because of his book on Oppenheimer and I was curious about the American involvement in the Middle East and the Palestinian..
