Not a remarkable piece of literature but if you were there, it is a remarkable piece of history. So glad he also told how we were treated at home. He was a hero, yes, but there were thousands whose stories were heroic and untold. God bless them.

The the stories these World War II veterans shared are incredibly valuable. The background on who they are as people even more so. The personal touch the author provides as a veteran himself, and having a relative who was the source of his inspiration tie this all together.
