A thought provoking and powerful novel. It blends the suspense of a mystery with an underlying challenge to confront the power and peril of AI. I couldn’t put it down.
Responsibility is a major concern these days. The novel sorta deals with it, but not to my satisfaction. The so called brilliant people who allegedly understand ethics seem less mysteriously insightful and more jaded, unethical than I would have hoped. The conclusion does not satisfy me about ethics and technology or ethics and life.

I’m a huge Kevin O’Brien fan. This one isn’t his typical crime story plot, but holy hell did I cry. I would never have guessed from the synopsis that I’d find myself rooting for a good outcome for a kidnapper.
