The narrator is fine. The book is a slog. The author borrows or steals, then ruins and repackages, any popular trope from the last couple decades in YA lit/pop culture. This book reads like it was cowritten by a 6th grade boy and AI.

I’m really enjoying the entire series but there is a clear shift in the complexity of the overall story that takes places in this book. I can’t wait to see what will happen to Carl and Doughnut in the volume 4 !

I love this series, it balances humor, emotional beats, and character development really well. The overall idea of it seems so goofy, but in practice it works so well. You will not break me.
