Like many LitRPGs, the first few setup chapters are rough. If you make it past the 1st floor, however, the book becomes much more enjoyable. This isn’t simply happy violence… it actually reflects on itself in a meaningful way that I really appreciated.

I am not really in to dungeon core books but this one made me a believer!!! So many different Litrpg themes and elements that were creatively integrated that had a lil something for everyone. Loved Vex of course and can’t wait for the next book so hurry up on that please!! lol
It pains me to leave this review. It pains me even more to say that I am done with the Carl series. I absolutely LOVED the first 5 books and have both read and listened to them multiple times. This book though brought the fun train to a burning, crashing halt. I don’t know why..

There are no words for how amazing this series is. The humor, the character development, the emotion. When I miss the characters I listen to wonderwall. I cried with laughter and some scenes broke my heart.

Book felt very mechanical in narrating every step taken by the lead character which can get tedious. Some listeners were comparing it to ready player one, that and the humor in the sample got me to give it a chance.
Better than game of thrones, better than Stephen King, better than any series I’ve ever read/heard. Jeff is fantastic and the mind of Matt brings forth of so many intersecting storylines. I remain amazed.
