When I neared the end of the first physical book, I was horrified to realize the series was several books long. I hate committing to long series of anything. However, this book instantly had me hooked. I downloaded Audible just to finish this series.

I do think the worldbuilding and performance are great. The characters are very well thought out. But the execution feels like a dnd campaign where the dm railroads and hates their players. I understand the hype but this series really isn’t for me, and it’s not really a relaxing read.

I generally believe second books suffer from always being a let down from the first. This book does not. While there’s still a lot of set-up going on, the story itself is amazing and pulls you right in.

There are no words. While it’s maybe not perfect, it sets up a world for a ton of brilliant sequels.
Had fun again reading this but the overall story of the crawl and the way it’s run kind took a back seat in this one and the storyline suffered for it. Cliffhanger / teaser at the end may get me back someday but need a break.
I find myself pretty often tabbing over to the dungeon crawler Carl wiki because the tiny bread crumbs deniman leaves sprinkled throughout his book, referencing The wider universe, are so enticing. in my mind, that is a sign of a really great book with awesome world building! really looking forward to seeing how this story..
