I have listened to a lot of audiobooks and this series is pure entertainment from start to finish. It has more layers to it than any other similar novel series. This is really a gem. There is quite a bit of gore and some mention of addictive drugs. Just an FYI

the good: decent character diversity, good enough reason to enter the game world, okay plot. the bad: the MC spends the entire book preparing to get a dragon. Just took to long to really get interesting. It was several hours in before it seemed like anything really starting forming. It continues the plot from the first book pretty well but I didn’t really find it engaging u til the last third of the book.

This is a decent example of NPC perspective in a video game. The writing is not bad, but there is a ton of sexual undertones that just becomes grating. The npc takes everything seriously and is obviously oblivious to the tropes whereas the PC is gaming the system and knows where the tropes are taking..
not real crazy about how the sister is being made the bad guy and not crazy and Arbor being kept away from home. but over all good books.
BAR NONE! I have read more than my fair share of fantasy/GameLit/LitRPG and have rage quit or simply soldiered my way through awful writing, idiot MC’s and pointless sheets of stats. Matt Dinaman has managed to eclipse virtually every other author I’ve read in this genre with an incredible ability to keep this massive world/system..
