The broken use of tense in this book is so distracting that I couldn’t get into the story at all. The story is mostly written in first-person present tense. I’ve been tricked by this series, like a cat in a Christmas tree. Not just tinsel, explosive baubles and questionably constructed knicknacks that smell haunted…there’s a solid core to this series. An unstable, flammable mast of plot, metaphor, social commentary and feels! Oh sh*t.
