I really wanted to love this book and while it wasn’t the worst litrpg I’ve read, so little happens. the protaganist progresses through the story at a snails pace while doing the same as a monster it’s an interesting concept but doesn’t go very far, some people will like it but just not for me.
Imagine a really good LitRPG book with great character development, world building, fun RPG dungeons, an interesting magic system and unique plot. Then take all that away except the dungeon, and what you have left is this book. I think I lost about 12 IQ points listening to this. I can’t believe I finished it..
The story was ok, I wouldn’t say great, but ok. Jeff Hays is so good that he doesn’t need the sound effects and they pulled away from the story.
Thoroughly entertaining! It’s such a dark book, it almost feels bad to be giggling all the way through it. Through the series I’ve had a number of incidents with my kids wondering what on earth I’m suddenly laughing at, and then giving me the hard eye roll that it’s my audible book! But the basic..
I really like Jeff Hays, but what the heck is this story? After 40 chapters it’s still an ant eating caterpillars and increasing his stats. I’m bored to tears, sorry.
