Fun concept, poorly written
Review from Wrath →
It was a promising concept, but the problems in this book (painfully bad dialogue, poor character development, insufferable MC, high stakes conflict being solved through massive exposition dumps, etc.) only gets worse as the series progresses. The first book is the least egregious in the series, but I can’t recommend any of it

Review from Pride →
Every conversation in this book feels so trite. It’s written like a DM’s first D&D campaign – a ridiculous amount of exposition, people having knowledge in the most convenient way possible, every conflict happening immediately followed by “that’s impossible!” followed by immediately figuring it out. Even despite all of that, it would still be tolerable..

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but it was far better than I had hoped. I could not listen to it with the kids in the car, but I really wanted to. The gross-outs and foul language and adult themes were all there, but it flowed naturally from the characters and events…
I loved it and was looking for the sequel but it’s not popping up at this time so I am guessing it’s being worked on. I like the music in the background. Reminds me of a real anime, it’s not over Bering on the actors and gives it a good feel. I would say that..
Ever read one of those books where the main character gets thrust into a story and seemingly forgets everything about his old life like it didn’t matter? Yeah. That’s not this. If I had a favorite aspect of this book, that would be it. The story is compelling. The writing is superb. Narration, as always..
From the narration to the story, and everything so far… I’m honestly extremely impressed. A summoner awakens is a compelling and excellent story thus far. The grammar and style of writing are fluid, and the protagonist is eccentric in a positive way. I particularly liked how the character was able to retain his personality from..
