I found the poor handling of relationships and representation of women to take this from a book that I otherwise found quite compelling to something I have no interest in. I finished the book, but would not recommend it and won’t be continuing the series as much as I found the magic system somewhat interesting.

I thought the dialouge was a bit cheesey at times but this was a really good and fast-paced story. I usually prefer slow burns but I didn’t regret listening to this.
First off Jeff Hays killed it, he is the perfect narrator for this series. The adventure that Carl goes on is fun, outlandish, but also grounded well in terms of character development, great job Matt Dinniman 👏🏾
Jeff hays is criminally underrated. the book is a great addition to the series, but I am here for Donut
