I couldn’t put my finger on it for the 1st 2 books. it hit me now, it’s the Game. it sucks. the way the game is sounds completely boring. not something I’d really play. that paired with the stupid time dilation and the uninteresting characters and the RANDOM stupid sound effects gives this trilogy a..
Edward Castle crushes it, love this book. Main character has the right amount of attitude, charisma and humility. Jack Thorn makes me laugh out loud.
There are a small number of problems that temporarily knocked me out of my suspension like having a hero simultaneously be wreckless and intelligently planning his moves in combat after suffering a loss. I’m not quibbling as these are real problems, but you may have noticed that it doesn’t seem to have effected the stars..
This authors political views shine through the main character on a regular basis. I listen to audio books to get away from bullsh*t politics so wasn’t pleased to constantly get it shoved down my throat. If you think everyone is corrupt and the might of the military is the only way to handle things then..
I am disappointed by the juvenile personality of the main character and the immature sexual content. The author clearly has a desire to express his sexual deviancy rather than focus on the story. It is also disappointing to be able to predict the plot before it unfolds. It’s a shame.
I really hate a book that does not have an ending. I get it is part of a series but at least come to a resolution of the book and let me feel satisfied but wanting more. Story is ok. Characters are ok. Would consider continuing but not wanting to invest the time to hit..
Matt Dinniman is batshit crazy. We know that by now. But he’s also a damned genius. This series just keeps getting better. More creative, more exciting, more… weird. I love it. As usual, Jeff Hays nails the audio version. It’s legendary. Great production value. If you haven’t read this series yet, start from the beginning..
While all the characters you’d expect are there, with their whit and depth, ultimately this book suffers from its confusing and distracting setting. I found myself zoned out whenever the geography was described. Missed the mark for me.
