There are a lot more characters to keep track of. The story is interesting, but other than a few areas, it didn’t seem as fun, as it seemed more work. Hopefully the next one is more fun again.

Riftside 1 was an absolute blast to listen to. The story itself is gripping, immersive, and incredibly well-paced. The characters feel real, the stakes are compelling, and the world-building pulls you in from the very beginning. I found myself looking for excuses to keep listening. Nothing interesting here. Don’t waste your time. Might appeal to a young teen, but not to anyone who has read any good sci-fi.
What really stood out was how well the story balances action and comedy. Just when you think it’s pure ridiculous fun, there’s a moment of tension or character depth that pulls you in even more. It’s fast, imaginative, and unapologetically bonkers.
Every time I think I’ve got a handle on all of these crazy creatures, something else pops up. This series is just so much fun that I don’t even care.
The pacing is good, and the plot keeps moving forward. I do like the attention to detail and character relationships starting to grow

Very engaging story. Matt Dinniman is very good at making the surreal and ridiculous also seam plausible. Good mix of comedy, action and drama.
