This is probably the fourth book I have read with a primace of an apocalypse where the world becomes like a video game. Personally this is my favorite. The writing is good but the thing that sets it apart is the production quality. Full cast with sound design. There is dramatic background music during fights.

the concept and buildup is nothing particularly amazing. generic ultra reality VR which I like overall. the characters quickly become very one dimensional, there’s a huge over play of anti bullying/”good guy always wins”, and nothing ever really challenges the characters. pretty much everything always goes the main characters way or if anything goes wrong..
