Review from Otherlife Dreams →
I read this book a few years ago and remembered loving it. Enjoyed listening just as much. It reminded me of The Rangers Apprentice but more intense and historically accurate.
The overall story could have been better. It kind of repeated itself over and over. Now the characters were great and the narration was amazing. It’s a silly fun book with some dark moments at times. It is a very enjoyable listen.
After seeing some of the reviews I was skeptical. Took a chance and loved it. Can’t wait for the next book.
I really enjoyed this book. The story was compelling and Jeff Hays did a great job with his narration and characters. Definitely getting the 2nd book.
I gave this book a chance because the first one intrigued me just enough to see what the author would do with a sequel. Unfortunately, he doubled down on the same drawn out, anemic pacing from the first book. He once again tried to hook the reader with “deep mysteries” but after an entire book..
Little slow to start. It would help if you are familiar with rpg terminology. With Jeff Hays narrating and a well paced story with characters you care about, you can’t go wrong.
The premise was intriguing, but the story was well developed. Some of the story points were predictable, but the execution made it well worth the reading.
I liked the characters and enjoyed the story and its moral tenets. I will read the next book when available
