If you were wondering if Matt could do more, or do different stories, this proves he can. It easily has the same heart as DCC, but spins it differently. The pacing is great, the humanity is great, and the twist was perfect. Thanks Matt
If you go into this putting your DCC expectations aside. Knowing this is a new fresh story from Matt then you will love this one too! For me it was a bit slow to start, but I really think that’s just because I was still in DCC mode. Once this story was able to get..
This is my favorite book series, they cannot come out with them quick enough. By may 13th I will have listened to the book twice. The only series that are the OG Were Alive or Adrian’s Undead Dairy (until they switch narrator in the dlc). Best narration and great story, this series is a gem!
This book (number 4 of 6) starts a new story arc in the series, and I liked it. It has all the elements I love about this genre: the statistics, the grinding, the artifacts, and the slow progression. It is all there. The humor is just as good; the book had me laughing out loud..
There are some thematic similarities to Dungeon Crawler Carl. I enjoyed the story and I’m looking forward to more in this universe if Matt decides to expand it.
The character work is bad, enough said. The main love interest is boring and static. The main character has as many advantages as is typical in this self-insert fantasy. If you’ve lived your whole life in horrible cultivation novels, or anime, then I guess you’ve found your newest ride.
This book was a really fun ride. The pacing is great. I remember thinking at multiple times how awesome it was to have details circled back to in the next scene. I never had to think to myself “hey, what ever happened to that robot, or that hat the person wore”. Narration is PERFECT as..
I just finished book 5, ripping through all of those in two weeks. Carl has quite possibly become my favorite audio series of all time
