I’ve never enjoyed an epistolary novel as much as I enjoyed this one. Very moving how her life story was uncovered through correspondence. Dare I say it’s inspiring an itch to start 2026 by writing letters to all my loved ones who I know would truly value receiving one. Just beautiful!

Loved the unique way this story is told through a series of letters. I really appreciated the complexity of the characters and especially how flawed yet likable Sybil was. I cried while finishing the book on a plane – and that says a lot because I don’t cry easily, especially in public!

I loved this and was so sorry when it was over. I would highly recommend this story

This was a very moving complicated story. It was grand!!! This story may, make you reflect on your own life with forgiveness in mind. I admired Sybil’s dignity, and her decision to be a correspondent.

Interesting format, relatable story enduring characters. Such an honest look at one’s life while living large!

This epistolary book was intriguing and difficult to “put down”. When there are so many character in a book, it can be difficult to follow at times, but not this one! Whether the character was quirky, complacent, stubborn, angry, introspective, etc., every character was developed and compelling. The narrators ALL read their parts well. I..

In the beginning, I wasn’t sure how I felt – mostly – not invested. As the layers of the characters developed, I found myself drawn in. By the end, I was weeping.

There is so much to unpack, like a very old and carefully packed suitcase. The discussions of this book with my book club group is going to be interesting and deep.
